The song of Amergin is first recorded in the Lebor Gabála Érenn (Book of the Taking of Ireland) as early as the 11th century AD. Amergin was a Druid or Poet of the Milesians who travelled from Spain and sought the land of Ireland – taking it from the Tuatha Dé Danann.
The triple Goddesses Ériu, Banba and Fodla greet Amergin and offer sanction and prosperity to the Milesians if their name is remembered.
